Ginette Castro

Born in Manila, Philippines, Ginette joined cosestudi in 2006, and plays a pivotal role in providing detailed design and implementation quality control for all projects. In addition to providing critical support in the beginning and conceptual stages of a project, she is, more importantly, ever present in all subsequent phases, assuring that the design and architectural goals of the client are met, up to the point of final project delivery. Her attention to detail and ability to synthesize numerous layers of concepts and complex spatial relationships allows for the architectural identity of every project at cosestudi.

 

Ginette’s profound interest in the arts and sciences allows her to inject holistic insights that present well-thought out architectural and experiential solutions and expresses a sensitivity and a strong will to provide appropriate design solutions that bring out the uniqueness and special quality of every project. Prior to joining cosestudi, Ginette served as Associate Principal at CSP, Inc. of Boston Massachusetts, USA, where her responsibilities included design leadership from the conceptual design through construction administration phases on numerous projects. She also played a pivotal role in serving as mentor for all junior and mid-level architectural staff and providing guidance and leadership in all aspects of the architectural practice.

 

Ginette was also Associate Prinicipal at Cambridge Seven Associates Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, where she served, in addition to other roles, as Project Architect and on-site representative during the design and construction phases (1995-1998) of the Oceanário de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal. As Cambridge Seven Associates’ on site representative during construction and commissioning.

 

Ginette was responsible for developing all construction and exhibit fabrication detailing in response to the design/build contractor’s

(IDEA/ Engil) needs as well as an aggressive construction schedule. While at Cambridge Seven, Ginette played a similar role during the design and construction phases (1989-1992) of the Acquario di Genova in Genoa, Italy. Working in collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Ginette developed all architectural details for interior and exhibit installations and coordinated and supervised all of C7A’s responsibilities on site in Genoa. Ginette also served as Project Architect and Designer during all phases of design and construction administration on numerous projects while at Kallmann Mackinnell and Wood Architects of Boston, Massachusetts. USA  (1986-1989) and Haines Lundberg Whaeler of New York, New York, USA (1984-1986).

 

 

 

 

Michael Oleksak

Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, USA, Michael is a founding partner of cosestudi. His extensive expertise and prolific skills in architectural

and exhibit design and construction management allows a unique and holistic approach to project delivery. In addition, his amicable

but strong demeanor is advantageous in providing clients a clear path towards their architectural goals. Having spent many years working in Europe, Michael has become well versed in the art of incorporating the client’s objectives within all phases of architectural project completion. In addition, Michael’s exceptional ability to see the big picture provides the strong initial surge of ideas and concepts that provide the critical foundation that is important in creating timeless and relevant architectural solutions. Michael’s extensive experience provides the foundation for cosestudi’s successful roster of projects. He previously worked for International Design for the Environment (IDEA, Inc.), a company that was dedicated to the realization of aquarium projects. IDEA specialized in comprehensive project management and project operations. As design coordinator and project manager, he was responsible for coordinating the design integration, project management and construction of all new projects.

 

Michael served as Project Manager during the design and construction of the Oceanário de Lisboa. This assignment allowed him to

successfully manage and coordinate all phases of architectural and exhibit design (living and non-living exhibits) and to orchestrate

the complex process of constructing a world-class aquarium that was delivered on time and on budget. His position involved being the conduit between design, construction, financial viability and project delivery from conceptual design through opening.

 

In the early 1990’s, he worked as the resident architectural designer and project manager in Genova, Italy, coordinating the design and construction of the Acquario di Genova, working closely with the collaborating architect’s office of Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
